2002 - Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of the Perfect Chili!

Well, another one is in the books, and number 13 completely dispelled any rumor of unluckiness, and the transition back to a home setting went flawlessly (thanks to awesome help once again from team alpha - Sharon and Mark!).

35 tasters judged 12 chilis, with not a loser in the bunch. Of course, when all was said and done, only 6 prizes were awarded, but the most common comment of the evening was how strong the field of competition was this year, and how much everyone enjoyed all the chilis.

Of course, prior to the actual event, several of the other awards were presented, chief of which was "Best Looking Crockpot", snagged this year by Perry with his stylish oversized, oval shaped pot, complete with thermal carrying case and elastic lid holder to keep things inside on those bumpy journeys. Another fascinating winner was "Most High Tech Cookery", which this year was given to Kyle (well, I guess his parents may take the credit for this one), for having his crockpot plugged into the car for the ride over to the party, thus maintaining optimal tasting temperature during transport.

We can hardly wait until next year! (In fact, at least two chili chefs have already started making plans for next year's entries!) Thanks to everyone for making yet another fabulous party, and major kudos to those who came to compete.
